Message of Condolence from the Board Chair

On behalf of the Medicine Hat Public School Division Board of Trustees, we are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the tragic events at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. We extend our sincere condolences to the students, staff, families, and the entire community who are facing unimaginable loss and grief.

Schools are meant to be places of safety, belonging, and learning. When violence touches a school community, it affects us all. Across Medicine Hat and beyond, we join in mourning those who have lost their lives, and we hold in our thoughts all those who have been injured, traumatized, or forever changed by this tragedy.

At the direction of the Government of Canada, we will fly our flags at half-mast starting today, until sunset on Feb 17, 2026.
