Exciting news! Starting in Sept 2024 MHPSD will proudly offer 76 Hockey | Ringette Academy for grades 4 - 9 students at several schools. This high quality program is open to hockey and ringette players and will blend on ice activities, off ice activities to focus on the entire athlete while maintaining the excellent academic rigor already established in our schools.

Royal STEM Academy

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics ( STEM). We understand the importance of preparing students for successful careers in STEM fields. Our program is designed to align with industry needs, and we offer exploration of career pathways in various sectors. Students will be immersed in hands-on, collaborative projects that will empower them to pursue the many pathways of STEM fields. The vision of the Royal STEM Academy is to “Think Like a Scientist!” Through the Scientific Process, students will navigate using a project design protocol (Empathize, Ideate, Define, Problem Solve, Design, Communicate). Students will have access to advanced tools (3D Printing, VR Design, Robotics), professional software and a computer lab to support new skills! Our STEM program enhances academic performance, develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and equips students with the knowledge they need to succeed in the modern workforce.

Royal Visual Arts and Design Academy

Through the Royal Visual Arts and Design Academy, we prioritize a hands-on and experiential learning approach. Through a combination of studio practice, theoretical knowledge, and real-world projects, students gain the skills and confidence needed to thrive in the competitive world of visual arts. Our emphasis on critical thinking and artistic expression prepares students to make meaningful contributions to the ever-evolving field of visual arts. Visual Arts and Design Academy aims to provide opportunities for students to develop self-awareness and express their creativity; students are continually engaged in learning how to translate their vision through a variety of mediums. At WLC, we believe in fostering a sense of community that extends beyond the classroom, providing students with valuable connections and potential career opportunities.

Royal Culinary Arts Academy

This WLC Royal Academy aims to inspire and educate individuals with a passion for culinary arts. We want to provide a comprehensive and hands-on culinary education that combines creativity, technical skill, and a deep understanding of the culinary arts. Students will be introduced to a wide spectrum of disciplines associated with the science, preparation, cooking, presentation and service of food. Throughout the academy, students will focus on the ways that food connects us with others, and how knowledge and skills with food can lead towards happier, healthier communities. We will explore food science and nutrition, the skills of food preparation, the quality of ingredients, the importance of seasonality, and the art of plating food. Connecting with local leaders in this trade to gain valuable insights into the many opportunities provided by this exciting area of study.

Royal Sports and Skills Academy

The Royal Sports Academies are driven to cultivate a culture of excellence in sports education. Our goal is to provide athletes with a dynamic and supportive environment where they can develop their skills, enhance their physical fitness, and foster a lifelong love for sports. Athletes benefit from a balanced approach that includes skill development, tactical understanding, and physical conditioning. Our academic support ensures that athletes maintain a well-rounded education while pursuing their passion for sports. A focus on mindset and “training to train” will help students develop their focus on basketball, volleyball, hockey or athletic performance while strengthening their character and mental fortitude. Students in this Royal Academy will have the time and superior equipment to focus on individual growth of their skill, speed, strength and knowledge of gameplay which will translate to more confident athletes and individuals. Ultimately, these skills will allow students to explore a broader range of opportunities when it comes to careers in this field.
